Dr Elena Bacash
Chiropractor, Fitzroy North
After undertaking a science degree on finishing secondary school and moving onto Gita yoga, I knew I would come back to science but in a more practical way and involving people. During my training to be a yoga teacher 17 years ago, I was inspired to see a chiropractor because the spine and nervous system control the body and because in yoga philosophy, the spine is the channel of consciousness. This means the more aligned and flexible the spine is the more healthy and aware we are.
When I was treated by chiropractors I was inspired by their knowledge and the philosophy on which chiropractic is based which is that the body is a self-regulating and self healing organism - an example of this is when we cut a finger and the body heals itself. Through my yoga studies and experience, I started to see the impact of the body and nervous system on the mental and emotional states as well. We now know through scientific investigation that our mental/emotional states not only impact our bodies but create what happens to us. This parallels the yogic concept that energy follows thought and hence the emphasis placed on meditation and learning to control thoughts.
In 2014 I joined the Meditation Association of Australia as well as completing studies in Health Coaching. In 2016 I am studying functional medicine to continue to update my knowledge.
I use manual and low force chiropractic techniques to decrease pain and improve range of motion and optimise function. I have a special interest in chronic issues and the emotional impacts of stress on the body.
I enjoy treating a mix of people in Melbourne particularly in North Fitzroy and surrounding suburbs like North Carlton, Carlton and Clifton Hill.
